Smile please!

Children's Offcer Hannah Middleton offers a some timely words of advice....

We all enjoy capturing those special occasions in our churches such as parties, celebrations, Easter, Christmas and holiday club smiles.

While we do not want to loose these special memories from our church life, a gentle note of caution to all of us who love to use our cameras.

• Have we asked the permission of those we are photographing? This is important!
  If children are in the picture, check with parents and carers.
  
• Where do we intend to use these photos?
• Will they be displayed in church?
• or used as a PowerPoint backdrop, or sent to our Synod website?

We all love to share our celebrations and promote all the great events and fun that occur across our synod. The last thing we want to do is promote the image of a child or adult that may be in a place of safety, where any member of the public could gain insight to their location via a website or display in a church building.

Please continue to take your photos, capture the moment of those special occasions and smile please in the knowledge that we have all safeguarded ourselves and others.
