Fair trade fortnight in 2007 saw the launch of a
brand new tool to help ethically minded consumers find local and
national fair trade suppliers.
A new website has been set up by Church of England Curate Simon
Butler which aims to make it easier for consumers to find fairly
traded goods and retailers across the UK.
The site claims to be the UK’s largest on-line searchable database of fairly
trading retailers and wholesalers and can be accessed for free. A
simple search facility allows shoppers to view relevant retailers by
geographical location, product lines, or numerous other criteria.
Simon Butler said of the site: “As someone who is keen to buy fairly
traded goods whenever I can, it frustrated me that it was so often
difficult to track down appropriate shops and products. Other than my local supermarket which offers a very limited fairly traded stock
there was not much information around. I set up
www.TradingFairly.co.uk to make it easier for likeminded shoppers to
find retailers across the UK who can supply what they are looking
for.”
